Well hello funny friends. Here is an update from Les.
ComedySportz (CSz) is going strong in Austin and San Antonio. Both teams just played in the World Championship of ComedySportz in Milwaukee Wisconsin for the 25th anniversary of the League. austin played against our pals and friendly rivals from Richmond VA and San Antonio played against our fun-loving regional neighbors from New Orleans. Great fun was had by all and we are totally proud of our teams triumphant return to the League.
Interleague play was so much fun, as a matter of fact, that the following weekend Les went to play in New Orleans again, San Antonio came to Austin, Manchester England CSz and Dallas CSz came to Austin, it was like a weekend in the World Cup or something. Not only great fun when we do exchanges but we get new games from each other, new techniques, the league is a thing of beauty that way. In the Fall we are already expecting ComedySportz visits from San Jose and LA, others to be announced. We’ve also invited some CSz alumni troupes this Fall like Austin’s own Coldtowne, Raleigh’s ComedyWorx, and some of our players great other troupes like Improv for Evil.
The Overtime Theater in SA is giving CSz a promotion, and moving us to Saturday nights!! The OT is a unique and important contributor to the Sa theater scene and we’re proud to be there. Meanwhile Cafe Caffeine in Austin just installed some upgrades for CSz too, including a booth and some new light and sound. Coming soon, video! And the show in Austin is expanding too, keeping Saturday nights at 7PM but adding friday nights at 7PM too.
And our first workshops were so well-received that we’re excited to announce our new workshop system. Austin and SA both have beginner and intermediate workshops registering now, for more info drop me a line at les@cszaustin.com, for either city, I’ll hook you up with the teachers. Our training system is fresh but not new. Our graduates have gone on to be masters of their business worlds, or to further their training with Second City or The Groundlings. It’s all overseen by author and poobah Les McGehee who has trained thousands and thousands of happier people with improv across more than a dozen countries, and in nearly every state of our union at home.
Alright then, there’s the update for now. And Austin has very cool new uniforms. OK now I’m done.
Love and laughter, Les from CSz Austin and San Antonio

Saturday May 16th at 7pm marks the return of a CSz favorite’s return to A-town…Tyler Bryce. That’s right! Uncle TyTy has been biding his time up in that state which looks like the ugly hat on Texas and is returning for a one night improv engagement, but there is a twist. He is bringing his own cadre of Oklahoman comedians, Red Dirt Improv, with him to face off AGAINST his former Austin companions in a ComedySportz match that will surely go down in the record books as the “The Humid Dust Bowl”.
It’s fun, fast-paced improv comedy! Two teams battle for laughs, creating scenes, games, and songs on the spot. The audience shouts out suggestions, the referee calls fouls, and the funniest team wins. It’s coffee-out-your-nose funny!
Two teams will enter, one will leave… on a jet plane later the next day and the other will return to their various homes after the show…but who will go to bed a winner? Come out and see for yourself.
Date: May 16, 2009

Ladies and Gentle Ben, I am trying this new internet tool called Plumb Social. If it works it’ll make my life easier, and let everybody know about shows in a much more discreet and specific manner. And I love you. Les

Two teams battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games, and songs on the spot. The audience votes for the winners and a referee calls the fouls!
